almost midnight here so this is going to be a short post. but today was an exciting day for lucky cluck farms & so i just had to upload a couple of pictures (& a movie!). sorry no captions. sleep is beckoning....
oh! and here's a video (you'll need flash & a fast connection to view it). it's red-tinted because of the heat lamps.
one final thing: i took down the mp3 of the golden age b/c it seems as though googlepages truncates it for some reason. i'll let you know when it's up again.
ZZZZZzzzz
[EDIT: golden age is back up again. this time on charter.net.] [download]
oh my goodness, khemmie!!! you should know exactly what i'm thinking right now.... their itty-bitty and furry.... they've got to be nothing but cute cute CUTE!!! :) let's talk soon, my fav bro! love you.... xoxo
i meant fuzzy... not furry.... whatever the exact adjective should be... they're so incredibly cute!! please excuse my spelling tonight (i misspelled "they're" in that last post), i'm exhausted... being in madison always tires me out - so much running around.... anyhoo - love you, khem! talk with you soon....
in between writing part 1 & now, i did some uploading to googlepages. now, you can download any of the coop scoops in PDF format by visiting the links in the sidebar. please check them out! dawn received a pullet-zer in recognition of the fabulous job she's been doing! & the winter 06 edition profiles pollita!
i also uploaded the cover that anne, francis & i recorded of beck's 'the golden age.' there are some weird pops and other technical issues but have a listen anyway :) in fact, go here, grab the lyrics & sing along.

continuing now with the bulleted list...
(+) gina got into pdx on 3/12, which also happens to be ram's birthday (& anson's too). so after dealing with g's lost luggage & getting lost while trying to find the NE PDX trader joe's, we finally made it into newport in the evening. while walking to tables of content to meet with d&d, matt, ram & amanda, g & i caught a colorful sky between the hotels along elizabeth st.
(+) i don't think that anyone tool any pictures at tables of content so you'll have to take my word for it: ram's wig was truly spectacular.
(+) of course, since this is oregon, the weather during gina's visit fluctuated between rain, overcast skies, and oh-so-brief-you'll-feel-lucky-to-catch-it sunshine. however, the rain just gave us the opportunity to don our fanky raingear.
(+) i had to work a couple of days during the week & gina had some oxford stuff to take care of. but what else did we do while she was visiting, you ask? one word: breakdance. once gina learned how to toprock, there was no stopping her. toprocking with pizza dough, toprocking on the beach. she probably toprocked in her sleep too but i don't know about that.
(+) we had an excellent lunch at a cafe in florence.
(+) we watched amandla, which is a documentary about the role of music in south africa's anti-apartheid movement. highly recommended!
(+) gina beat me in pool at the rogue.
(+) we drove up the coast on friday & caught several sun breaks along the three capes scenic route.
(+) in pdx, g, anne, fran & i met up with a NU guy that gina used to work with in sohee's lab. very surreal night (st. patrick's day) at an "interesting" bar.
(+) anne, fran, g & i went drumming on saturday.
(+) g & i went to NW PDX for some shopping, where i made a new khmer friend.
i have 2 more pictures for you. they're from the past 2 weekends. first is of dawn at the chicken fair holding penny. the other is of the campfire ram, amanda, sylvia & i had while camping at silver falls SP. on monday, the new chicks arrive. i ordered a speckled sussex. & on thursday, khmer new year's starts. d'accord, c'est tout! a bientot!

hm. yeah, well it's been over 2 months since the last update. lots been going on but i'm feeling too lazy to write narratives for everything. besides, i don't think that anyone looks at this blog & expects to read literature anyway. so here's a bulleted list (with pictures!):
(+) been traveling up to willapa bay & the columbia river about 1 week/month for work. had some nasty weather at times. but then once in a while, the sun decides to say "hello!"
(+) while on the east coast for the national FWS GIS workshop in WV, hc drove down from philly to pick me up at my family's & we caught the new pornographers/belle & sebastian at the electric factory. i think that 'sleep the clock around' is my new favorite b&s song.
(+) most definitely, the highlight of the new pornos/b&s show was not the music (which was all together excellent, even without neko case) but rather, an unexpected reunion: hc & i ran into my old high school buddy, ian. wow, it had been about 10 years! maybe i'll run into jackie bass at the rogue next.
(+) the GIS workshop didn't start until tuesday, march 7th, so after hc & i drove back from philly (mini road trip! panera!) i stayed with my family in VA for a night. they all ate ice cream & made funny faces. (as usual, i don't take many photos so what follows is supposed to be representative of the visit)
(+) anne & francis, driving the bean, picked me up from PDX on friday night. rachel was also in town & we were able to hang out (w/ anne & fran & leilani) for a bit before i had to drop her off at PDX (early) saturday morning. later on saturday, a&f and i attended a drumming lesson, recorded a song & went to the saturday market. saturday night, we caught the jamie stillway trio (which included tim, the former bassist of francis' band, petty cash) at costello's.
