7:18am here so this is a speedy pre-workday post....
this past weekend, life in newport changed forever. an ent named treebeard appeared in all of his grandeur to herd trees; a golden eagle soared; a fashionable pink-haired diva introduced herself; a cobweb caught insects and random pieces of debris; a nerd used the prenzlauerberg equation to calculate the most optimum (i.e., fun) route between an apartment, an aquarium and a brewery; a street walker charmed us all; a retired couple from arizona made a reappearance; and finally, SUPER FRED MEYER became known to all as a TRUE AMERICAN HERO.

sunday morning, brenda, cliff, & the missus went to the coffeehouse for breakfast. daisuka, a j-pop superstar, happened to be on break from touring and made an appearance. oh, so exciting!
i managed to capture some amazing (& rare) footage using my digital camera (you must have macromedia flash and javascript turned on in order to view)!

Very nice, and the Fargo accents were perfectly excecuted. Speaking of execution, I can help with the Eduardo cat problem if needed. Let's just say I know someone, who knows someone, if you know what I mean. Wink Wink.
I'm glad to see that the Coffeehouse still remains such a wonderful gathering place for the fine folk of Newport. And such scintillating conversation, too!!

i let so much time pass in between updates. sorry!
i'm in portland now, staying at anne & fran's. francis has a gig with janet & curtis at the goble tavern this evening so we'll be motating on out of here pretty soon. so, this'll be a short entry. i just wanted to post some of the pictures from the past couple of months.
so, here's a quick rundown of what's been happening since the last update:
anne & francis got married & we had a People's Union Dance Party and Campout (PUDPAC) to celebrate! a bicycle built for two + fun is fun + music + hula hoops + the freak mountain ramblers + a retired couple from arizona + naked dancing kids + fire dancers and one that got burned (luckily, we had a firefighter on hand!) + good vibes & so much more = PUDPAC!
i went home to MI after PUDPAC and visited with my folks & nika & my maman's side of the family (uncle, aunt & cousin from long beach; cousin & his wife from France; & uncle, aunt, 2 cousins from montreal). we went up to mackinac island & then spent some time at home. ate lots of good food. maman, niks & i made tiramisu for nhek peou & pou muni's wedding anniversary. after all of the extended family left, my dad, mom, nika & i did some housekeeping & yard work & gutter cleaning, which was relaxing & fun.
had a couple of days of boat surveys with davekins & one day when elise came out too in august. housesat for the brodeurs. went to spokane with most of the refuge information branch for the NW GIS user conference. saw raenell & married marci, eric & my favorite nine year old, miriam (mim & i made up a secret handshake!). led a couple of days of training for the BIA. donated blood. picked chantrelles with dawn & amanda in the drift creek wilderness & then passed out due to dehydration, lack of food & blood (scary!). & spent 3 weeks in cathlamet, finishing up the julia butler hansen and lewis & clark NWRs vegetation mapping (exhausting, exhausting, exhausting). anne & fran came down to newport one weekend & we (+ dawn & d-u-g, ram & his mom, ric & linda) saw laura, kevin & ankush perform at the newport PAC.
oy, so that's the update. anne, fran & i gotta bust a move & pick up janet. enjoy the pictures! i'll caption later!

we made it back from goble & it was a rockin time! what a weird place, this goble tavern. anyway, i took 2 pictures there & they both weren't all that great. but just to cap the night, i'm posting a picture anyway. so here's the band:
