driving on the way up from newport, i put in an old cassette compiled from a radio dj set by kj & rondo (a.k.a. 'hip-hop music & stuff'). waltz for aidan -> soukara -> this man, this street, this life -> happy. if i am remembering correctly, the set was broadcast sometime in the early am hours, maybe between 3 and 4. perfect late night music, i think.

today, i signed a lease for an apartment in newport. the only ocean view i have though is a slice just pass the jetties, on the south side. & so, these are my last days in the bunkhouse. from where i am writing this at the kitchen table, i can see the sun set over the houses on salishan spit, drift creek flowing beside our deck, a great blue heron feeding, & a group of buffleheads. i won't miss the commute or highway 101 but i will miss this setting & the wonderful housemates i've had here.

(at this point, i was going to upload some pictures of my current housemates, stacia & leilani, but i can't find the usb cord to connect my camera to this computer. oh well.)

in chicken-related news:
my chick was hatched 2 sundays ago (4/17) and delivered to marilyn's place the next day. i haven't seen my chick yet b/c marilyn is taking care of all of the chicks until they get a little larger & until dawn and doug get back from their birdwatching trip in texas. sadly, one of dawn's bantam chicks got trampled en route to marilyn's. but the rest are doing well! & marilyn said that my dark brahma is just a cutie, with its dark down.

i'll be traveling to portland & then willapa bay this week for work. yay!
